I've been trying to figure this out for 2 weeks and now I'm stumped. I have a LiteOn DL DVD writer and Nero(OEM suite) that came with it. Everytime I try to burn DVDs (even non-copyrighted ones) I get an "Illegal disc" message and can't continue. Can someone please help? I posted my error log below

hi, i took a quick look at your log... a few things..
Quote: Nero Version: 6.6.0.13
way outdated, 6.6.0.18 is available now (last update)
Quote: LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S>Version: PS08
thats up to date, i verified it
Quote: Physical memory : 479MB (490992kB)
Free physical memory: 117MB (120204kB)
Memory in use : 75 %
kinda low in the memory department
and 75% usage of memory !!!
dont use any programs other then Nero while using it.. close down all applications and programs, free up some memory, defrag the hd, clean out the hd occasionally too..
Quote: Disc Manufacturer: FUJIFI - LM03
never heard of that media (at least by code, i know its fuji, but from where)
Quote: Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
and your burn is set too close to the edge, roll it back a bit to like 4300mb
try this first and see what happens, then post a log again if it still happens.
i think the update and a media change will resolve your issues !

ok, i think i got it...
that burner you have is an external burner, am i correct?
connected via USB ?
my sister has the same one... and we updated her firmware last night...
it had problems with the -r media
try some +r media, see what happens..
also, your memory in use is at 70% while doing the burn... you sure you have all progams closed down?
run task manager to see whats going on...
and imation media is junk media..
Quote: Free physical memory: 139MB (142884kB)
Memory in use : 70 %
still low on memory... free some up..
do a defrag on the system, even do a restart, close down all applications except the ones needed to run the pc and your Nero..

No its an internal burner and I already updated my firmware. But +r media did work when I burned. Sucks that I bought these -r's. I guess I'll just use them to backup files. Big thanks Gear
