Hello everyone!
Im posting because i've had some problem with my MP3 files on my computer for some time. I can no longer edit the details of the MP3 in the ID3 tags.
Usually, i would right-click a MP3 file and choose Properties, then Summary tab. But it is totally blank! Not only is it blank, the only entries are Track Number, Title and Comments.
It used to work fine about a week or two ago, but just recently when i've had a look they have dissapeared! Im thinking it must be something in my registry...
Anyway, thank you to anyone who has any ideas in advance!

Have you used any program to manage the MP3 files in? I recommend Tag & Rename. It is the best MP3 tagging program. It can connect to an online database and tag the file for you.

Hi
Ive got winamp and thrown some mp3's into there and you can indeed edit the file info! and they are also there in the first place. But even once ive edited that, ive gone into explorer to view them the traditional way, but its still the same thing, only the three entries with no information in them, no matter what i put in those particular entries in winamp. For example if i change the comment for the file, in explorer it is still blank!

Right click any MP3 file and check the following things:
1) Under General where it says Attributes make sure the "Read Only" and "Hidden" boxes are unticked
2) Under Summary is their a tab that says "Advanced". If so click it and it should bring up a list of all the info you can edit. If it doesn't say advanced and it says "<< Simple" then click on any of the info you can edit and see if it will let you edit it or not.

Done that, but again, no info on the tags...Even in the Simple mode, there is NO entries in there...And i know that this mp3 file has tag info...
Ive been looking around and found a page that someone has had a similar problem exactly like this about a .jpg file, i dont suppose that would be anymore helpful?

Is it like this with all your files or just your MP3's.

its only like it with my mp3 files, all the others seem to be fine (jpg, gif), apart from avi which doesn't seem to display any tag at all!

ummmm, just of limewire mostly, and also ripping some off cd lately, to add to my collection! Why? Does that have something to with the problem?

I was thinking that maybe the MP3's you were downloading were some how protected but as your downloading them off Limewire you should be able to edit them without any problem. The same goes for the ones your ripping from CD's. I can't think of what the problem can be. Do you have another PC that you can try and edit these files on.

yep sure, ive tried on another computer, it has the same specs and operation system...they are the exact mp3s that i have been trying to edit as well, so im thinking its part of my system...
With the site i mentioned earlier, do you think regarding mp3 files, it could be a simmilar solution to fixing the same problem for a jpg? As in going into the registry and fixing the properties?
