This will be my first time so please just give me easily followed instructions please.

P.S. I have a modded big old PS2 with a Matrix Infinity

Yes it does :)

Thanks for the info but I am afraid I need more since I don't want to mess up.

My friend has a high speed connection and he will be getting torrents to get the ISOs, plus we will be using Alcohol 120% unless there is a better program for making PSX backups with ISOs.

1. Is it okay to use my Memorex Cool Colors CD-Rs (can I label the game name on the CD after I'm done *it has a label portion*)? for PSX backups?

2. I want the read and write speed to be as slow as possible right?

3. Might you guys have another forum link that tells you step-by-step how to do this with Alcohol 120%?

I thank everyone very much for their help cuz video games are my life and games are getting harder to find. You Guys Rock!

My friend could only write Tales of Destiny at 8x so it doesn't work.

Shows the playstation logo and stops from there.

I'm going home later to see if my burner will write at 4x, god I hope it does.

Could it be that Memorex Cool Colors CD-Rs can't be wrote at 4x?

I'm sorry I don't get what u mean i_suck

Do u mean DVD's can only be wrote under 4x
and CD-R's can only be wrote under 24x?

I'm going to try to burn it at my house now using the slowest read and write speeds possible with Alcohol 120%

Ahh man. I have the same problem as my friend.

We both tried different Memorex CD-r's and the write speed won't let us select below 8x. ;(

Do you think it is our CD-r's or our CD Burners?

This is really depressing, this seems like an easy process that just won't work for me.

I really appreciate all the help and apologize for messing up, please continue helping me.

Well if I can burn the game up to speeds up to 24x, then why wouldn't Tales of Destiny work with the memorex CD-R he burned it on at 8x?

Not trying to contradict you, just asking a question. I know you guys are the masters

I'll try to burn it myself now with a Memorex Cool Colors CD-R at 8x and hope it works.

After checking that list of media link you gave me it seems that memorex is a low quality CD-R for PSX backups.

I'll be on here after I check to see if my burn works, thanks a lot for the help i_suck :)

Maybe its because I need to click the boxes for

"Don't close the last session of current disc"
or
"Rectify Sub-Channel Data"

After reading a lot more threads on the forum I think that I will get my friend to download CloneCD since it can write at 1x (as long as CloneCD can use .img,.ccd,and .sub I am good)

Apparently Memorex is Memosux here ;(. So maybe I should pick up some maxwell CD-R's for my psx backups.

My real question is that in some of the threads people said to change the Write Method to DAO/SAO when making PSX backups with ISO's in Alcohol 120%? IS THIS TRUE BECAUSE IT COULD BE MY PROBLEM!

I always set it to playstation and the Write Method would set itself to RAW DAO, is this the wrong Write Method?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, please don't give up on me i_suck ;(, I am trying my best!

I just burned it again with Alcohol 120% at 8x DAO/SAO and it froze at the playstation logo again.

Darn it ;(

Not giving up ever though

I'm going to check to see if the ISO works with one of those PSX emulators (whats the best one? epsxe?) to check to see if it isn't the ISO itself.

It seems I am going to spring for better media, what are a couple of suggestions for the best CD-R's for backupping PSX games (that hopefully won't fade with time)?
-From what I've read on different threads
1. Verbatim Datalife Plus will write good and not fade with time
2. Sony and Maxwell CD-R's are recommended

I checked my burners properties and it will let me set the write speed to 1x, so I guess its the CD-R's or Alcohol 120%'s fault it won't let me write under 8x.

LOL I actually checked around my room and found some Maxwell CD-R's that say they are meant for music, but if I burn the iso to one do you think it will work?
