Dear programmer of RatDVD.

First I want to say that is great work to compress a full DVD to such the half size.

But I can not understand why you use AC3 VS instand of the full DTS-ES or DD information. You only save 50 MB on doing this. Why. The stored file at all is still 2GB...

And on your website there are lot of infos about AC3 VS but not the realy loss of information. I've Compressed a full DVD to RatDVD and back again to see what happend with the quality of video and audio. Video is realy great but the los of audioinformation is horrible!

Normaly I hear DVD in DTS-ES 6.1 or DD 5.1. Your AC3-VS is no comparison! I'm very shoked about this result. Not even my High End DENON A/V-Reciever can reproduze the original Audio approximatly. And it still use the newest NEO DTS or PL-IIx Decoder.

So please ad a note on your Website that it is advisable to turn this feature of, because of horrible quality loss and saving only 50MB of disk space...

Regards Cobra911

PS.: Please excuse my bad english, but rarely write in english.

I think he should leave AC-3 VS as default. Works great for me.

If you personally don't like AC-3 VS and want to include full AC-3 5.1 and/or DTS you can still enable that for your discs. It's up to the user and since there are different opinions about it, that's exactly what it should be.

Mh, if it works great for you, ok. But I think you don't realy have an DTS or DD A/V-Reciever, or you wouldn't say those things.

Shure there is an Option to leave the DTS Soundtrack untouched, but on the hompage the AC3-VS vowed. And the fakt is, this is a lie! Shure, if ou only have an ProLogic or Dolby Sourround Reciever there will be no differece, but in comparison with real DTS or DD there is a realy great differnce.

My only wish is to inform new users of this programm directly on the homepage, that the use of AC3-VS (Virtual (!) Surround... already the Name says it: virtual = not real = simulated) brings a great loss of quality with it, as long as you call an DTS/DD A/V Reciever your own.

Best Regards

Cobra

An average DTS track is about 1GB in size. That is as much as the video itself. I don't think that's worth it.

If you think it is, that is fine but I vote strongly against making this a standard option.

Ok, thats your opinion, but why you by a DVD?
I think to have a perfect quality. Otherwise you can record it from TV or buy a VHS...

And the DD Soundtrack contains much less Data. I think about 300MB. And the Quality loss between DTS and DD is very small, and only for skilled ears hearable.

And on the other side, dual Layer Disks are about 3EUR.

Best Regards

There are a lot of reasons to buy a DVD. Having DTS is fine but not the most important thing.

Again, if you thik it is cool to have you can enable it and put it into your ratDVDs. But I think it should NOT be the default.

Maybe not the default, but there should be an information, for users who want exellent sound quality. On the Website the AC3-VS is shown as near equal to DD or DTS and this is what I mean. IT IS NOT! And that must be brought to users, BEFORE they waste time with ripping the DVD and killing a DVD by burning it.

I hope now you understand what I mean. If not, your thing.

Anyway, I don't want to discuss with you, I only want the programers to notice that and think about it.
