I hooked up my vcr to my ATI tv card and copied an old tape. I am trying to move the file from one computer to another but it says it is write protected. I try to use Nero Vision but it locks the computer up. So I am trying to solve the problem by moving the file.
Can I defeat the protection somehow?

I think you are out of luck what you need is a device that removes copy protection and they are not sold any more i got one afew years ago i had to order it from Hong Kong

The file which the Capture card creates is an AVI or MPEG file. Both of which cannot be copy protected, nor does a capture card even have the ability. Burn the file to disc and move it to the other pc that way.
