Im using an NEC 3500 oem burnner everything was fine for the 20 dvds or so then encoding in dvd shrink started going 2,000 KBs so I updated firmware and It was back to normal but after another 20 back ups it started encoding slow again. Ive tried everything to get encoding speeds back to normal from checking DMA, uninstalling IDE drivers, Changing the slave and master drives jumpers around and also going into the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\000x

and deleting MasterIdDataChecksum
SlaveIdDataChecksum

I have windows xp pro the sp2
P4 1.8 GHz 512 ram msi mother board
IS it possible that my dvd burner is just shot? even though it still does burn dvds and they play great it just takes 1hr 30min

any help would be great this site rocks first time i have used it

30 min is normal to encode a movie the longer the movie the encoding time wlii increase the shorted the movie less encoding time
