Well, the Revolution has to do something with what it downloads. Hard drive? How possible is the idea that it writes its own discs? I think if it was a smaller disc, like one of those G.O.D. discs that GC used, that could be a possible idea. Why not? That thing is only as big as "three dvd cases stacked together", not much room for a hard drive and everything else.

wrong
the revolution contains 256meg flash memory no expansion this is built into the revolution to save games on so my guess is they are planing to create games that use a kilobyte or less of storage space

That it's possible, because even the N64 roms shouldn't take more than a few MB's.

The revolution has 512mb of built in flash memory. I doubt that can store any significant number of games in the Nintendo Library, especially larger N64 games, so I am curious to see how compatible the USB ports are to PC hardware.
and N64 roms are only a couple megs tops? That's a lot smaller than I thought.

Check out a free roms site and download a file just to check the size. For my experience one of the only files to exceed 100MB's was Resident Evil 2, and it included 3 versions(US, PAL and Japan). Considering that RE2 has a lot of videos, not usual for N64 games, it's easy to believe that most roms won't exceed 20MB's.

First of all, the N64 roms are the latest and will obviusly feature the largest files, so the other roms (NES and SNES) should be even smaller. Also, don't count on having the entire N64 library available for download anytime soon. How many NES, SNES and N64 games is the average gamer interested in downloading? 512MB's and maybe even 256MB's of flash memory should be enough, because backwards compatibility is not a mayor selling point of the Revolution.

Of course not, who cares about the old games? It's just another feature and the Rev won't be the only one to have it. You ever heard of XBOX Live Arcade? They are currently generating a lot of buzz with the release of Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting or something.
Of all the people who buy a new console only a small fraction will play old games, specially if it's three to four generations backwards. Backwards compatibility is just another feature, the big selling points are low price and innovative gameplay.
Of course that's my opinion, if I was talking facts I would give you a link to back my points up.

That's a good point about Street Fighter 2 generating a lot of buzz. It's sort of my point, though. Downloading old games will rawk. I think that anyone who will use Nintendo WiFi Connection will be at least tempted to download some of their favorite games. Half of the DS owners have used NWFC, and Nintendo probably want's a similar percentage of Rev owners to use it. I could see that "small feature" become extremely popular. I don't feel like digging out my SNES, but playing some old school Final Fantasy sounds pretty neat (you know, when FF was good and not redundant and lame).
Clearly we are on opposite sides of the spectrum in this matter. Hopefully you'll get a revolution, as I will.
maybe someday I can pwnzor u in the new smash bros ;-)

Well I don't really agree with saying people aren't interested in older games. Old games are great. In some cases they're better than current ones. And as sort of a curiosity to oofRome when did you think FF started getting redundant and lame??? It's not to flame you or insult you or anything. Just wondering when you thought it started sucking. Hopefully FFXII will redeem the franchise.

I began to lose interest in FF games during the playstation 1 era.
