Hello, I was wondering what is the best program to convert any file (MPG, ASF, MPEG, etc.) into AVI format - I am NOT asking about DVD-AVI conversion because I already know how to do that.

Anyways, I have Power Video Converter but it keeps crashing and giving me erratic output files. What is the best program out there to handle conversions to AVI format? Thanks in advance.

I usually use OSS Video Converter. I've never had a problem with it, and the beauty of it is that you can choose which codecs you want to re-encode the file into. For example, XviD, DivX, etc. It's a great program, you can check it out here:
