im tryin to"hot swap" a xbox hard drive the hard drive is already softmodded. everything seems ready except i cannot unlock the original hard drive to backl it up. n e one that has a softmodded xbox with a big HDD may know. I think the dash is the problem. i may need a diff dash if so wich one? and is there a way i can unlock the hard drive with the softmod or sumptin im stumped about how to unlock this Hard drive.

now its softmodded with evox tryin to add a 160 GBHDD and keep it soft modded o yea the xbox is a version 1.0

yea there is a few but they are supposedly VERY buggy and i think tere may b a easy way or advice someone can offer like if its even worth the trouble or is a different route suggest. just bc i may b able to do it it may not b the best thing for me to do.

I dont no, go to http://www.xbox-scene.com they have pretty decent tuts and you should find a good one there.

If the new HDD you just modded is not working when you boot, the problem is with the HDD. I tried to add a spare one once and I kept getting error codes. Finally I ran a diagnostic on it and the HDD was severly corrupt so it kept losing data. Where did you get the new HDD?

i tried htis one http://www.how2xbox.com/harddrive.htm bc its already softmodded. so i have the unlock code and eeprom backed up i have a chipped xbox version 1.2 0r 1.3. and i have 3 softmodded xboxes v1.6 a 1.0 and a 1.6b. I have Hard drives but i dont wanna add chips. i dont know y that tutorial didnt work i followed the steps perfectly. i am goin to try it again. i got the program off a site im guna go get the real one from xbins. bc after i hooked it up adn hit enter on step one it just wouldnt format the drive so the boot disc wasnt workin. i want someone that has done it successfully to give me some advice. or if i can softmod the box with my chipped xbox(xecuter3CE) make all the xboxes have the same eeprom and them lock it right? some one that Has done one way successfully please post i am followin the tutorials correctly and im pissesd. Any help is appreciated
