I currently use Sound Forge and am very happy with the control I have over my tracks. I am interested in recording a live wav stream over the internet (record output from sound card). I cant seem to figure out if Sound Forge will do it. Does Adobe Audition do it? Anyone have any comments on Sound Forge vs. Adobe Audition. Again, my real interest is in recording live wav streams! Thank you!

In SoundForge~~~

Click the record Button !

Method: Normal
Tick in Monitor
Tick DC Adjust
Click Calibrate

At this time start playing an MP3 to verify that you are setup ok.
You should see the scales going up in Green -- If there is clipping ,lower the volume of the input device in your Windows Volume Control Panel. Once you satify, you are ready to record whatever is streaming !

Go to your streaming and click the ARM button.

A new wave form will be written with the incoming stream on it until you press ARM again to stop the recording.

or you could use a stream ripper such as net transport to capture the audio stream, then edit it in whatever audio app you want.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
