I have not forwarded my ports yet for my router. I have a linksys WRT54G wireless router. I am using azureus. my question is..Do I have to setup a Static ip address. I know on portforward.com it tells you to, but on many of the guides here, it doesnt say to make a static ip address. Should I, and can it mess up my computer? I am asking that because i have heard stories of people messing up their internet very badly after doing it. Thank you

You can easily change the settings back by unselecting the option using own ip to obtain automatically. Just follow the guide at port foward.

But is it really necessary to make a static ip? what happens if you do not, and you just forward your ports in your router? Like i said i have seen many guides where it does not say to make a static ip address.

Check out this guide here. It includes the 'port forward' website and included in there is how to set up a static ip address.
