I successfully backed this up with;

Smartripper 2.41 *
DVD2one [cant remember if I used 1.02 or 1.11]
Nero 5.5.9.9. [UDF/IFO Mode]

* It would depend on what version of DVD2one I used as to whether I ripped all files then extracted extras using DVD2one or just ripped only the neccesary files and DVD2one added needed .BUP files

Hope this has helped - herbs

Hi M8, I backed this up yesterday, as my daughter wants to borrow it, and she has young'ens with jammy fingers.
Rip the whole lot with Smart/Decry or anything, so long as you get the lot.

Get the trial version of Pinnicles InstantCopy 7, which will pick up the VTS IFO. Remember to click on DVD-R (or DVD-RW or what ever it is going to)from the 'details' tab, choose a place for IC7 to work and dump. Few hours wait - (Not the DVD2One speed, but this does work) and you can go and do something else, like go outside into the Sun ?
You will end up with 4 (PID) files, close IC7 and reopen it, select the first of the 4 PID files, select your writter, press start, and it's all done in the time it takes your writter to write a full DVD. 100% certainty (just stay away from Nero M8). Hope this helps.

DVD2One does work (I'm using v1.1.1 and having 100% success)

(just stay away from Nero M8)

Nero 5.5.9.9 (100% success here too)

I'm thinking most problems may well be down to the individual user

I would not argue that Nero does in fact work, that is the problem.
It lulls you into a false sense of security, as soon as you accept it works, it doesn't.

I have taken the episodes of 'Friends - Series 2' from both sides of each DVD, and combined them onto 3 DVD-Rs. I tested the first one, after writing with ******* Nero, and it worked fine. The second and third were assembled in EXACTLY the same way, and burnt with Nero. I don't need to tell you that they did NOT work.
My construction was fine, the burn was ****.
I copied from the 'faulty' disc, onto a new DVD-R using a different package, the resultant discs play fine.
If you want to use Nero M8, please don't let me put you off, I tell my children all the time, "Some lessons you have to learn the hard way", with respect.

Friends Series 2 (both sides of the disc) ?
Is that in the US or something??

LMAO : )

I've been using Nero throughout the last two & a half years without too many problems at all.

I will always suggest Nero over Prassi Prismo but I also mention that I've heard RecordNow is rated quite highly by users too

No M8, they are R2s. I take it you do not have the earlier Friends Original DVDs ? They were made with 4 episodes on one side, and, the next 4 on the reverse. This is before some twerp came up with the idea of making twice the money by making you buy twice as many (ie same 4 episodes on both sides).
BTW I think your post, (quoted below,) makes the point for me.

How many is too many ??? I don't like wasting time and discs making even one frisbie M8. But TOO MANY, is certainly too many for me.

It was back in the CD-RW days when I was getting used to Nero so not much money wasted on my part.

I got Prassi Prismo bundled w/ my Pioneer DVR 104 & it was not user friendly at all (IMHO).
So I tried Nero for DVD & low n' behold it worked 1st time.

Use what burning software u like.
It bothers me not...just trying to help frustrate people out when they keep asking why RecordNow or Prassi etc wont burn them a Stand Alone DVD Player compatible DVD-R/+R/RW

Ah, those were the days my friend, when you could buy a blank CD-R for a fiver.

If dealers turned up at computer fairs with thousands at £1-50, they sold out in an hour and a half, easily.

How lucky we are now to be able to buy DVD-Rs for 40p, that do all you could ask (except be written fast of cause).

Is that another can of worms for you M8 ?

LOL In the high st. they were selling Sony CD-R X5 for £20 back then.

Like ya said tho , computer fairs would sell out quickly : )-

I pay upto nearly £1 per DVD-R for Datawrite Classic X2. Which I've found to be doubly reliable even at X2 (aslong as the movie isn't too much over 2hrs,if then X1).
Bulkpaq DVD-R [Purple] X1 £0.59

Yes M8, I use purple Bulkpaq as well, never had a problem, excellent generation three discs. I use them for EVERTHING.

I paid 40p each for mine, if we are allowed to publish URLs (I see you have), I will publish the one I use.

COSTS
In ones, they are 45p, and 40p per 100.

I wouldn't trust a Bulkpaq G3 on a film around or over the 2hr mark.

But other than that...a fairly reliable disc.

(I dont buy in 100's)
