I heard that a stolen xbox 360 will be located if it is connected to the Internet. Is this true? And how would this be possible?

very possible, or somebody could at least narrow it down to a street through your ISP if there is something fitetd to the xbox to identify it. SO DON'T BUY A STOLEN ONE, and besides, it's bad!

I don't beleive it's true though, surely they would have advertised it as a selling point. Companies these days can't afford to spend a penny more than they have to if it's not going to help sales in any way so i would bet my car on it. (not my house, that would be foolish!)

considering the serial numbers can be viewed via the dashboard, i wouldn't be suprised if M$ could use it to track down stolen consoles/content whatever. it's in the system blade. and when you log onto Xbox360 Live what's to say it doesn't send ur serial number along w/ account info, so lets say you have a stolen 360, u connect w/ a live acount, account gets frozen or tracked, and ur held liable? could be something they've not thought of yet (but i'm guessing they did because the display units [walmartbestbuytarget] all have a store number imprintented in the dashboard i believe via the system blade as well.)

well the bad thing is, in most retail stores the serial number isnt scanned on microsoft products. Sony product such as the psp and the ps2 have to be scanned and it registers the number in the 'siruis' database. If your xbox 360 gets stolen and you dont have the serial number written down then you will be out of luck. I highly doubt microsoft would get involved with such shakey ground as tracking the xboxes.
