I have a dvd of a french film called 'La Haine' It has no region encoding, no css, and is in DVD 5 format. This is a very easy disc to back up. However the film is in black and white and the subtitles are in white which makes them unreadable for large portions of the film. Is it possible to make them say 'Red'? Any help much appreciated.

Are the originals white?

You need to change the colour codes but whilst the colour codes for white are well publicised the ones for red probably aren't.

If you can find a DVD with red subtitles you can copy the colour codes from that. If not then you could experiment I suppose but given that the codes for white are ten lines of gibberish (to me anyway) it will be a lottery.

Someone who knows what they are doing will be able to work out the right codes I'm sure.

Ahh got you, yes the originals are white. I've seen various guides using ifoedit to resolve subtitle colour problems and I've just realised the importance of the 'edit copy subtitle color' and 'edit paste subtitle color' functionality. Dvd2One is talking of adding subtitle editing functionality I'll sit and wait. Thanks for the help.
