I am Going to store 300+ Gb of music @ 192kbs and don't want to lose it literally. What is the best drive @ 350 Gb's +. Have hade great sucess with Maxtor but need some input. Also I am going to make it an external HDD. It will only be used to access music, some pictures, and I might put some video on it. I need the most reliable HDD I can buy, also would like 7200 speed and 3.0 Gb/s. Is this achievable?

3gb/s, no as both usb2 & firewire can't transfer that fast!

Mabey i shoud be more specific(on second thought I will be.) I want all of my data to be safe from crashes(s/p), viruses, etc. I would like a HDD that i can access anytime without worrying about losing data if somethig fatal occured. Any sugestions? Also, it does not have to be an external HDD.

Unfortunately, that's not possible with a hard drive. It has moving components, and therefore prone to failure. Now, give or take, these drives usually last several years...but if you want a more fool-proof way of keeping data safe, go for a tape backup drive if you only plan to store the music/data.

If you're into looking for large hard drives, Hitachi, WD, or Maxtor have 500Gb drives starting around $350.00 U.S.

I would go with Seagate for a couple reasons.

If you look at servers that run 24/7/365 you won't find Maxtor or Western Digital drives in them, Seagate is the leader there

Seagates have 5 year warranties. The best you can get with Maxtor or WD is 3 years, only 1 year on some models
