I've recently decided to invest in a new 32" CRT TV, but I want to upgrade from analog to HD. I have Direct TV and an HDTV satellite dish, and a new gaming PC with DVI out, so it only makes sense. Besides, I've been getting into DVD movies lately, and I hate the terrible resolution and thin strip on my 19 year old 27" viewable RCA.

Anyway, I didn't understand why all the TVs were so expensive till I saw a Sony KV32HS420 sitting next to a Samsung TXP3265 in a Circuit City. I didn't see much of a difference in picture quality, or sound... but the Samsung was about $400 less! I read the description and discovered it had two sets of component connectors, while the Sony had that, and DVI and HDMI.

This seems to be a trend when comparing HDTVs with DVI/HDMI and those without. The salesman told me that all the new HDTVs come with it now, and the HDTVs without it are being phased out. So this means I chose the worst time to buy an HDTV. UGH!

Does anyone have a rough idea as to how long its going to take for the prices of HDTVs with DVI/HDMI to level out a little so they don't cost an arm and a leg? Like maybe around $700 to $800?

They already do. I don't know if its your area or what but the Samsung HDTV 30" Slimfit costs $800 in my store. The sony 30" cost $800 as well. The Philips 30" with built-in tuner cost $700 and the Magnavox without HDMI or DVI costs $500.

Sorry, but Im looking for 32" viewable. With that size I get a decent sized HD/DVD vewing strip across the screen, and I can watch normal TV signals on a large screen without going too high in price. I don't want to settle for anything smaller, mostly because this is for a media room. The couch isn't that close. Also, since its a CRT, I don't want to be very close when using it to play PC games or viewing photography.

Anyone know when the prices are going to simmer down a little on these newer HDTVs? A few months maybe? I guess I can wait that long... but I guess I can always hope for a sale. I just hope I don't end up buying from Circuit City. CC's extended warranties suck. They always want you to pay way too much for them, and its no better than anyone else's.
