the new version of norton is supposed to be really good, however it is still probably heavy on system resources, wereas mcafee i dont think is really as effective at scanning as norton, it all comes down to user preference, i personally use avast! antivirus and ZoneAlarm.

McAfee hasn't failed me yet, and even though it's a bit of a resource hog when scanning, it's not half as bad as Norton imho.

I won't say much faster, but at least a bit faster, and it doesn't use as much cpu% as Norton does.

I think the best internet secuirty program out there is zone alarm's, if your going to buy any id get ZA or maybe trend micros pc cillian.
Macafee internet secuirty is probally better than nortons.

Zone alarm's package doesn't have a AVS Rav009, and trendmicro is just an AVS, so he'd wind up buying 2 different packs, and paying more than he would if he just got a McAfee security suite package or something similar.

Damn... i must be in need of new glasses... i didn't see the word Antivirus in the zonealarm package, just the anti spyware... as for trendmicro, i just figured the package had stayed the same... guess i was wrong.

lol no worrys Daniel_G, just a simple mistake.
also panda internet secuirty may be of use..if you want a good reliable internet secuirty suite id probaly go for Zone alarm, but Norton and Mcafee's products are much easier to get your hands on, out of norton and mcafee id definatly go for Mcafee's.

as far as my research goes zone alarm is in fact the better firewall, however i do not thing the antivirus is as good as others, i found this review on the internet from a search in google:
http://www.consumersearch.com/www/software/firewalls/ check it out, has reviews and suggests zone alarm as top

yeh ive seen that review phanton69, it even says that zone alarm free is better than N.I.S 2005..and ive used zone alarm I.S, it was very good and kept my system running safe and clean for about 2 years, now ive gone for zone alarm pro,AVG antivirus and Microsft anti spyware(and soon probaly webroot sypsweeper)i dont really like internet security suites, i prefere to choose a certain program for a certain job, for example ZA offer the best firewall going so i'm using ZA pro, i think AVG have the best anti virus so i use there's, but if your just a beginer in theese things then perhaps you should stick to the I.S suites.

yeh its easy to use BUT i think overall ZA I.S offers beter quality protection, and it is probaly easier to use than macafee.
Internet secuirty programs are ok but i prefere to pick and mix my protection as it produces the best results.
If you use theese corectly then youll have top protection and for free.

like rav009 said, it is sometimes a better idea to pick individual utilities to keep your system safe, i personaly use zone-alarm free and avast and it works very well for me

demon406, ive been using ZA pro and have never experienced a single problem with it, it doesnt affect any of my downloads at all, ive set it up for a few people and it doesnt slow them down either.
so it must be you?

If you are experiencing slow transfer rates then i think you should start a thread on it... :)
