I have a music WAV file that is 40 minutes long. I want to convert it to a MP3 file. Then after converting it, I want to break the MP3 into seperate tracks so I won't have 1 long track. Is it possible? If so, what are the steps.

1. Use lamedropXPd (http://audio.ciara.us/rarewares/files/lamedropXPd-s.zip) to convert the file to mp3 (drag'n'drop)

2. Use mp3directcut (afterdawn software section) to cut it.

(If the source of your .wav file was something lossy compressed, you should find another way, as re-encoding degrades quality.)

[Blazino] Is there any reason why you need to edit the file AFTER it's converted? A more customary approach might be to edit the original .WAV into the desired segments (tracks) and then burn multiple MP3's.

Both would be a relatively simple matter with any number of editing programs, such as Sound Forge or the embedded editors in ECDC or Nero.

Cheers,

A_C
