Imation - ugh!!, see my sig for reasons as to why it's a lottery in quality of discs when you buy Imation ie you never know which manufacturers' discs you end up with

Players like DVD+R booktyped to DVD-ROM. If your burner cannot change the booktype, use DVD-R for greater compatibility.

Hi,
I thought that at AfterDawn, people did not help people that pirate movies. Is burning "Red Eye" not legal, instead illegal? Just wondering.

OnlyJosh - here is a good site to check the compatability of your DVD player: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

Of course if your burner will booktype, that is always your best bet. That will almost guarantee your movies to play in any dvd player.

Nice to hear that OnlyJosh! Please remember though that those Imations may be working now, but what about two years from now? The Sony one's should keep you going good. When you figure you can find Verbatim on sale constantly, and TY's (under other names). You might as well load up when they're on sale.

I saw on a thread how someone was using some crap media. Show'd how her scan were 94 and said why waste the money, they were getting just as good of scan as Verbatim and TY's. Someone asked them to post a older scan. They posted a 6 month old scan, and it was a 78. They of course said it would still play in their dvd player. Yeah, but if in 6 months your scan drops 16 points. How much longer do you thing it will be before it is unreadable.

Stick with quality if you want to watch it again in 4 years. Use the imations to copy stuff your not woried about losing in 6 months to a year. I use the cheap ones I bought (before reading about quality media), to copy large volumes that I need to transfer over to one of my other computers. And they make nice coasters :)

Ya im only gonna be using my new Sony +r's now and use the imations as data disk's. but if i see those dvd's ur talking about i'll get em and try them out. Another thing is my buddie told me that Dvd-rs are more better then +r's Because -R's will read more on alot more dvd players then +r's will.. is that really true?

This may be true, if you don't booktype your +R's to DVD Rom. But if you do booktype, it's not true.

To get Taiyo Yuden discs locally, get name brand media (Sony, Maxell, Fuji, etc.)that are made in Japan, not Taiwan. It says on pkg. where they're made. About the only exception to this is Verbatim media.
Good luck!
