hi i have a kingston 512mb memory stick usb and i put some stuff on it and now it always says write protection on and some other crap.tell me how to fix this....peace

Right click and properties in the window where you access the drive and see if read only is applied. Untick it if it is. If it isn't then check if there's a security application on the disk, a small (a few hundred KBish) file that manages data access to the disk. Make sure any protection is off here too. If there is no way of changing the contents of the disk, then you may need to replace it.

i dont know how to turn off protection.theres no switch on it.thanks for the info tho'

if its a flash drive youve had for a while it could just be bust.

they usualy start to ramble about write protection when theyre on the way out.
Theres usualy a switch that allows you to lock or unlck the flash drive so have a close look. if theres no switch on the flash drive itself then id say its most definately broke

Flash drives are very inexpensive nowadays anyway, if you just backup your data you might as well grab a new one.
