Can I hook up my xbox 360 to a wireless router and then use wireless adapters on my two PC's? I'm trying to avoid paying $100 for the xbox 360 wireless adapter. I currently have my desktop hooked up to my router and my laptop is using a wireless adapter. An adapter for my desktop will be cheaper than the xbox 360 wireless adapter. Thanks.

Hello,
I'm not really great on hooking up wireless. Xbox 360 came with a cord (large telephone plug, called ethernet) to hook up direct to your router. You can then use your wireless adapters for computers. You can even watch best buy ads for a gaming adapter, for about 80.00 after rebates. Hopefully this will help

Thanks for your input. It is greatly appreciated.
Is there a senior member out there that can advise me? I would like some other opinions.

yea basically this would work the same way as if u hooked up the wireless adapter to your console, except instead of your console u r using a wireless adapter on your pc.
Which in turn would prob be cheaper, altho im not sure how much wireless adapters are for a pc, prob not to expensive.
Basically u would make sure where you have your console u have access to your broadband connection and place your router there. Run an ethernet cable to your console and setup wireless for your pcs.

there must be a downside it it though other wise M$ would not have made their adapter soooo expensive, i mean i got the adapter b/c i thought maybe using a pc adapter might not work probably and i did not want to take that chance as they are also not that cheap but they are cheaper than xbox 360 wireless adapter.

Thanks for everyone's inputs. If I get it to work, I will let you know. I do understand why you are skeptical, but I just don't understand why it wouldn't work.

The reason why it won't work is a PC USB wireless access point requires software to be installed on the PC your hooking up the adapter to. You can't just pop the installation disc into your xbox360 and expect it to install the software necessary for operation. How do you think they are able to sell the official wireless adapter for a hundred bucks?? You can still connect wirelessly the old way with a wireless ethernet bridge.

Is this what you are saying?
XBOX360->WIRELESS ROUTER(with a wire)->PC (with wireless connection networked to the router)->Router connected to phone socket
?????? If this is wot you are saying then it will work with xbconnect(I used to do it this way) but im not sure about xbox live.
