Hi, I am using DVDx 2.2 and trying to make an svcd out of a 1:47 minute dvd.
I have the vobs ripped, but when I create the svcds and set custom size not to exceed 790 MB, the mpgs created are only 35 minutes or so. How can I get more minutes unto one svcd? Any help?
Thanks

the program is doing the max biterate which only allows around 40 minutes to a cd. I don't use that program so I have no idea where you can lower the biterate I would highly recommend using tmpgenc to do your svcd, it does a great job compared to dvdx. http://entiendo.gotnet.net

Do it the easy way by using DVD2SVCD 1.1.3 and CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder). This method of backing up dvd2svcd is considered by far the best. Here's a helpful guide to get you started.

Well I tried the dvd2svcd guide using cinema craft--the last linK ABOVE.
I noticed during the process it said I was using a hybrid film so it would take longer.
What is a hybrid film?
thanks,
by the way my first attempt failed so I am performing second attempt this a.m.

Well, after my second attempt to make an svcd using dvd2svcd and cinema craft encoder, I come home this evening after it had run all day and it said it had 17 hours left to go! I am using
an athlon 950 with 256 ram-is that too slow to do a 43 minute show??? Yes I choose the 3 pass and it was a frakin' hybrid, so maybe a 2 hour regular movie will encode faster???
Thanks for your insight.

DJW2003,
I honestly don't know what a "hybrid" type film is m8. I have a secondary pc just for dvd rip, encode and I'm running an Athlon 950 with 512 sd-ram. My encoding time using DVD2SVCD (multi-pass vbr3) on the average is about 15 hours. Be sure when all encoding is done, that you burn bin&cue format, NOT MPEG2(Nero). This will allow you to scroll through the chapters of the dvd backup. I use BurnAtOnce or VCDEasy.
BurnAtOnce:http://www.burnatonce.com/index.html
VCDEasy:http://www.vcdeasy.org/

I defrag my hd at least 3 times a week so if you do the same, your encode time "might" increase. Just a helpful tip m8.

Shoey :)
