i'm sorry but ive been using DVD shrink to encode the DVDs that i wish to burn on to my harddrive but when i try to burn on to a blank dvd-r it says illegal disc burn process failed at 4x. i tried looking at different issues such as DMA and all that and uninstalling the secondary IDE but that just gets detected again after restart so i tried disabling it but it still didnt burn. ive updated my nero to the newest version, i'm just not sure waht the problem is. i guess this is a log file that dvd shrink showed when trying to burn . please if you can help me let me know.

odetoazam, the latest firmware for your burner is BSOY.

Your burner does not recognize your media. This could be corrected with latest firmware.

Illegal disc
Your burner does not recognize your media. More firmware related.

You are using media CMC MA - G. AM3. I wish my burner would not recognize that media! :) CMC Mag is bad media. Purchase Verbatim or TY.

Is this new media for you? Have you burned with this media before? If I am not mistaken, this is DVD-R 16X media. Your burner supports up to 8X burn speeds on DVD-R. Firmware may correct this issue.

As cyprusrom indicated, remove your Nero serial number by editing the first line in your logfile post.

Ok so i downloaded the firmware and it did not install. I tried a different one also BSOS i think. it said
Error
No matched drive detected!
This utility is only for LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S drive.

Detected drives:
0-0-0-0 E:LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S BGS4
0-0-1-0 F:LITE-ON DVD SOHD-167T 9TS1

I dont get it. Is it because mine has a bgs4 in it? i tried restarting and it still didnt work. I shut down every User process running in task manager except tskmgr and explorer.exe and i think my wireless connection and it still didnt work. Anyone know whats going on?

Thats an oem drive in a gateway huh?

You have a few choices here. The first one is make a backup copy of the version you have.
Do it with LtnFW: here

http://dhc014.rpc1.org/howto.htm#LtnFW

Then get omnipatcher here

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/patchers/omnipatcher-2.4.3.rar

You can use omnipatcher to crossflase to any of these firmwares

1633 BS0Y:

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/dvdrw/stock/1633S.BS0Y.stock.rar

1653 CS0T:

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/dvdrw/stock/1653S.CS0T.stock.rar

Sony 710A BYX5:
http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/dvdrw/stock/Sony.710A.BYX5.sto...

Unrar whichever one you like. I use CSOT myself. Patch it however you want it and then flash to it.

Or you can use the already crossflashed versions for whatever one you want from here

1633 BSOY

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/dvdrw/1633S.BS0Y.patched-cf-mc...

Sony 710A BYX5

1653 CS0t
