Hi,
I read the thread on enabling DMA on my drive, but when I go to the Secondary IDE Channel in Device Manager, and under Device 0, I select DMA if available (it was on PIO mode before), and I heard that is the reason it could be causing the issue with my burner slow speeds and other problems of failing and stuff. Now, I selected DMA if available, but under "Current Transfer Mode" it still says PIO Mode. Now, when I check using Nero INFO TOOL, it shows that the DMA is still off for my burner. What the heck is going on, everything was fine at the beginning when I first got the burner? Can someone help me?

Regards,
DiRect

Somtimes just selecting DMA mode in the list wont put your drive back into DMA mode. Go to your IDE channel that your device is on and delete (uninstall)the IDE Channel then restart your computer and then windows will install it again and it should be in DMA mode.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the reply, but I updated my drives firmware, and than after switching to DMA, restarted my PC and now the drive is working great. It can finally burn at 16x (DVD's :P). Thanks !

The reason it went into DMA mode is because when you updated your firmware it reinstalled the drive using the new firmware update. Im sure once you restarted it said that it found new hardware and installed the updated drive firmware. So next time if you come across this problem (hopfully you dont) uninstall the IDE channel and reboot so it will reinstall in DMA mode.
