I am using a lite-on dvd dual layer burner and nero recode to burn to memorex dvd+rw disks. One 4.5gigabyte movie is taking over 12 hours to encode and burn. This to me seems an excessive amount of time. I have an amd 3200 athlon cpu, 200gigabyte wd hard drive. I am loading the movie from my hard drive into Nero. The program does record the video to dvd successfuly, but the time it takes is ridiculous. Nero tells me I am getting o to 1.4 frames per second. Can any one help with this?

This has nothing to do with the burn time but Memorex are the worst possible discs you can use, they cause so many problems.

Having said that, yes that time is excessive. Shut down ALL unnecessary programs during burning and turn off any spyware etc. Do not multitask while burning, just leave comp alone.

You might like to check DMA is on and it's not in PIO mode, go here for help

Found the problem. I deleted power dvd an now can copy a full dvd in 30-40 minutes. That is more like what I expected. Old boy 29
