what is the purpose of a firmware upgrade. what good will it do exactly? make it compatible with various brands of media? I've had trouble with my writer from time to time(bad burns), but it was always resolved in another fashion, crappy media, defragment, burning to close to the edge, etc, etc. at the very top of the page where the updates are available it says the wrong update could render the drive useless, I'm not ready to chance that. I've flashed bios for an HP and felt lucky that it actually worked.
