Hopefully someone can help me here, i have read a couple of suggestions made here that solved similar problems to mine and gave them a go, but it has not worked.
The process comes up with an error at the very end of the session, i have put a copy of a section of the error log that might shed some light on the problem. In saying that, i have plenty of memory and for some reason the program itself is using 98%, this stat is the same everytime.
Also, i have never had a problem before and regularly burn similar projects every few weeks, so it seems strange, because i cant figure out what has changed.
I have completely cleaned out Nero and reloaded and had it updated too.

You need to shut down all unwanted programs, including spyware, do NOT multitask while trying to burn. Your Nero is also a few versions behind.

Thanks for your suggestion, as for the first part, everything else is shutdown and i never multitask, i leave the computer all to itself while it carries out the task.
Before starting the Nero program i check available memory and there is usually around 900 - 1000 MB of ram available, so it seems that either the program is using all of this memory or there is a glitch somewhere else, i am suspicious of the fact that every time i check the log it has the same percentage - 98%.
As for your other suggestion, updating the version may be my next option, it just seems strange that this should make all the difference, as it hasnt been a problem before?
Thanks for your reply. Paul

Heres an extract taken from a thread in december, hope it helps.
Quote: To Check your Paging File, go into your control panel, then click on System, then go to the Advanced Tab, and Under ?Performance? click ?Settings? then the Advanced Tab . On the Bottom you should see ?Virtual Memory? and a value. This is the value that must be at least as large as how much memory is in your system. If the Virtual Memory Value is smaller than your system memory, click Change and change the Min Virtual Memory to a number that is greater than your total system memory, then click ?Set? and Reboot.

Thanks again for your replies, as for this trick it was one of the first things i did, it is set at a min of 2000 MB and max of 4000 MB. I think my last option is the latest Nero version, but again, im sus that its something else.
Cheers. Paul

Non legal sn# can cuase this kind of problem as well as other problems if they get flaged.

Thanks for the reply. How can it be a non legal s/n? The software was packaged with the DVD writer (OEM). And if you were correct, i would have been having problems long before this.

I appreciate your efforts, but you are both barking up the wrong tree so to speak, i have a legit software package and as i just said before, even if you were correct, i would have had problems long before this.
Secondly, why would anyone bother having an "illegal" s/n when you can get them issued from Nero if you were to use a trial version?

Dont get me wrong my friend. I am not saying you did anything wrong.
Just saying what I see. Weither you did it or whoever you purchased from did. If the # has been flaged by Nero it can cause all kind of problems. Not just mem leakage but bad incoding for jerky video as well as not being able to update with the #.

Interesting, i will follow this up tomorrow with suppliers and hopefully Nero (i dont think i will get a reply), because how can it be tampered with when it comes as packaged software.
I beleive the problem is a glitch somewhere else in the system.

I am not saying your software has been tampered with just the # being used. When posting a log on fourms you want to always make sure to remove the sn# because anyone can get them from the log. If someone gets it and shares it to crack sites or whatever and Nero gets wind of it it will get flaged. After being flaged it is then known in there system. And can from that point on cause problems.

a good point for future occasions, but that doesnt solve this problem unfortunately, because this problem was before i posted the information.
Hopefully someone out there has an idea of what the problem is?

Well both Gwen and myself told you what the problem is. It is your mem alocation. The fix will be to find why Nero is alocating all of it to itself. The only reason I can think of is because the sn# is being used on other systems. Therefor it may be flaged. And the combat Nero flaged the # with might be to alocate mem to an unusable state.

If he's using an OEM version of the program, and the serial number came with the package, he can't be using anything Nero would find illegal. I have many OEM versions of Nero 6, some with their own built in serial numbers, others with numbers on the envelopes that the disks came in. They all work with any of the disks.
My suggestion would be to un-install Nero, clean up the registry, defrag the HD, then re-install Nero again. Also, on the Nero Web Site, there is a utility that cleans up the computer so you get a CLEAN install. I used it before I installed Nero 7, and it does make a difference in the performance.
From what he said, he has way MORE virtual memory than required..

Sure he can. As they pointed out the number is on other peoples system as noted on other posts here.
Virtual memory is not what is in question here physical memory is. 15 meg left from 1279 is in no way enough. And as he said he is not running anything else so it has to be Nero doing something.
A full clean may or may not help. If it does and the problem is the number the problem will come back fairly fast.

Paul
Go to (Nero.com/nero6/enu/Download_Utilities.html" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://ww2.Nero.com/nero6/enu/Download_Utilities.html) and download the Clean Tools package. Follow the instruction and the programs will clean up your registry and system.

@smsmike,
When your link screws up like that do this to fix it:
Select Edit your Post.
Then select Save Changes.
The link will now be correct.
It has something to do with the fact that the word "Nero" is linked internally to the AD definition list.
Cheers,
Frank

Would love to use the "Edit Your Post" function if I could find it. The only options I have been able to find are Reply, Start a new Thread, and Unsubscribe from this thread.
Where does one FIND the Edit Post function?

Ok, I had this error as well. It was driving me nuts since all I changed out was my old Pioneer DVD burner to a NEC Dual layer DVD burner (which has great reviews) and then I started to see this error. I reinstalled the driver - didn't work. I cranked up my virtual memory - didn't work. I reinstalled windows - didn't work.
What did work was the IDE cable I was using on the Pioneer was the 40 pin/40 conductor. I changed that to the 40 pin/ 80 conductor and the problem went away. That annoys me becuase I have made this mistake before. :-(
Anyway, after spending all that time and effort and no one on any other forum mentioning this I figured I had to share.
Hope it saves others some time and frustration.

Thanks all for your suggestions, well my problem has been solved too,it definately was not the lack of memory, nor the serial number as two helpers were so persistent about, it was simply a glitch in the project, because when i tried another project, it worked well, so i deleted the probelm child and started again and this time Nero, version 6.3.1 ran like a dream!
Thanks all fo your imput, it was all worth a try.
As for the serial number thoery, i suggest those boys give Nero a call, that mystery will be revealed...
