I dug up my old BenQ out of the closet, and i dont know the model so i cant update the firmware. is there a program that can identify my optical drives?

Download the free version of DVDinfoPro to identify burner, firmware, and get media info. DVD decryptor will also provide this information to some extent as will windows device manager.
