I'm having a little difficulty trying to find the right speed to burn at and understanding Nero CD-DVD Speed.

I'm using 16x Sony DVD+R as follows

Disc Type: : DVD+R
Book Type : DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: : unknown
MID : SONY D21 (000)

I've read that you should burn at half the rated speed of the disc and I've also read that you should never exceed 4x. Does anyone know a rule of thumb for burning speeds.

When using Nero CD-DVD speed, under the settins...what speed should be test. The speed that I burned the movie at or should I leave it at maximum.

Obviously the ideal amount of PI Errors and PI Failures should be zero, but what is an acceptable amount? And why does it seem that the first 3 to 3.5 GB of a disc have little PI Errors and Failures but towards the end of the disc they go crazy?

I don't burn to the end of the disc, I have it set to 4300MB. Should I be using 3500MB or so, since there seem to be little errors and failures up to that point?

When I run this program I usually get a quality score of 90 or so. But the PI erros max out a little over 250 which I read is a good indication that stand along players will have problems with skipping and so forth.

Any and all feed back is very much appreciated!

3500 is way too small. I use 4200 and many here use larger. I wish I could get my Nero CD-DVD Speed to work.

Is 3500 MB way too small due to the quality?

I'm sure, if I reauthor with Shrink and choose only the main movie, then the quality shouldn't be too bad. That would be no differnet than compressing the whole movie by like 75%.

In this case less is better, less compression will improve quality. I remove everything but the movie leaving only the movie and 5.1 English audio. Usually I'm 100% or close to it.
