Good day guys,

I have 13 .avi files and I want to make a DVD from it.
I load them in VSO Divx2DVD but its projected size is 11.9GB, that won't fit onto a DVD disc.

Anyone know the fastest and most reliable way to make this happen, with menus and all?

I have a P4 2.8, 256mb DDR, WD40GB.

I now of no way to convert that much file space and get it onto one DVD vso is your best freeware option if you just want to encode to mpeg1 or 2 I use cucusoft AVI converter not to expensive and you get a lifetime of updates on it but it can also convert and burn to dvd
get it here cucusoft.com

You cold take this output of TMPGenc's Wizard as a 'rule':

about 155' movies can fit on a standard 4.7 GB DVD"

therefore I don't think you might fit 13 movies on a DVD (155'/13 = 12'), unless you speak of music clips (which last about 5' each).

If you have long movies and want to put many of them in a DVD, you only can do the following:

1) lower their resolution (e.g. TMPGenc can to AVI --> MPEG-1 for free; a mpeg-1 is 352x240/288 and they are large about 10 MB per minute, that is you can fit about 470' in a 4.7 GB DVD). As always, it a deal between quality and output size. 155' of 720x480/576 movie or 470' of 352x240/255 movie. You choose. remember that, if you only use it for doing AVI (.MOV; .ASF; WMV) -> MPEG-1, TMPGenc 2.5 is free.
2) put a little less movies on a DVD; supposing that you try to put MPEG-1 movies (1 movie = approx 2 hrs) in a DVD, 470' / 120' = approx 4 movies per DVD
3) for the authoring, only DVD Lab allows to put VCD movies on a DVD, and you'll have to pay for it.

You requested a little too much, don't you think?

I agree aldaco it's like taking the library of congress and putting all in an suv. even if converted to DivX it would not hold 13 full length movies on a 4.7gb dvd.

Have you tried them in the new VSO ConvertXtoDVD v2.0 and use LOW Quality, to see if it will finally fit on 1 DVD5.

Set your target to DVD5.

Software should ajust the bitrate to make it fit.

13 .AVI tells me nothing, it's how big each files are :)

I made a DVD with 80 little .mpg but they were little !

My 2 cents...

i just purchased this software last night and converted 3 episodes of battlestar galactica in an hour in high quality mode, with very good results. the new version is worth the money with added features for auto chapters, 5.1 sound, and title menu display. Totally reccomend it currently they have a coupon code listed on the homepage to save 20% so you can't go wrong.
