I've recently downloaded a couple of video files from a torrent client and I want to burn them onto CD-R (or DVD-R) so that I can play them back on TV using my DVD player.

I've done a few searches but I still have not found any success.

The first movie is divided into 2 files and the other is only 1. I tried to check the type of file they are and all it says is "File Type: Video Clip" so I am assuming they are some type of mpeg layer file?

I am using Nero 6.3 and have tried creating using Video CD and Super Video CD but it takes forever only to then say "not enough space" when trying to burn onto a CD-R and "invalid disc format" when using a DVD-R.

Can anyone send me some step by step instructions on how to do this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Update your Nero to newest version 66018. Get package 1 and 2. Then use vision express to do what you want with them.

thanks...

well i was able to convert my AVI files to dvd format and I burned them using DVD Shrink>Nero 6.

I would really rather burn the AVI files I download to CD-R because most of them are around 700mb per file anyway. I want to save my DVD-R disc for real DVD backups.

I tired burning a SVCD with Nero onto a CD-R but the process failed. Nero encodes it successfully to 100% then prompts me that the media is not big enough to fit the file. The file is only 700MB though so I dont know why it would tell me that.

Anyway, any further advice is appreciated! :)

Encodeing will change the file size. If you just want it to be an AVI on the cd just make a data cd and burn the AVI to it.

I wouldnt know without knowing what your player is make and model #

I can say it will on mine. But might not on yours. It would have to offer AVI DivX or whatever playback to play it.

I tried burning the AVI using Nero as a VCD. My DVD player states that it is Video CD compatible and CD-R.

I tried burning a new movie onto a CD-R but I still was unsuccessful. This is what I did...

Using Nero 6
I tried burning my 697MB AVI file as a VCD. It then encoded the video for about an hour then promted me asking where I would like to save the Image file? (nero disc image)

I then saved it to the desktop (didnt know why it asked me about this) and preceded. It then said "writing to disc"... after it finished successfully I checked the CD and it was still blank??

I then opened the saved Nero disc image I saved and it opened with Nero but its 945MB which would then be to large to attempt to burn onto a CD-R.

I didnt think I'd have this much trouble burning avi's.

What am I doing wrong?!?
