WinAvi slow conversion

I have used Winavi for several months and has worked great. Now, for no apparent reason, it is taking 12-14 hours to convert a one hour (1.2 gig) file. What should I check?

try deleting your secondary IDE channel an restart

I did that, and it worked fine for a couple of conversions. Problem returned.
