I've seen the specs for the Ipod Video and it says Mpeg-4 supported 480x480
I have Xvid Mpeg-4 files, and I'm not sure if these will work - I don't have an ipod yet but I'm thinking of getting one -
Also, I have a haunch that those file will not work. That is because I recently received a "ipod ready" file, and its format is .M4V, since people have claimed it to be ipod ready I'm assuming thats true. The thing with this file is that Media player Classic doesn't have the codec for it, but VLC player has the codec and is able to play it. Now MPC recognizes my other Xvid Mpeg-4 vids, so does that mean that my Xvid Mpeg-4 isn't the same as Ipod Supported Xvid Mpeg-4?

My File: 58 MB, 1800 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 640*480 (4:3), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported

I guess that also means I have to resize them -.-

thanks for ur help in advance

I don't believe the new iPod plays XviD files, and since you have to resize them you might as well convert them too. A popular free conversion software is Videora for iPod. Might want to check Lethal's guide out at the top of the forum.

yea will do thanks :) my friend already tested it and he has videora, and it converts fairly fast. lol going to these forums almost discouraged me from buying an ipod cause people are so freaked out. ipod's actually pretty easy to use :)

It's easy to use, good UI, does what it's supposed to do well, I understand the battery complaints but it's still mainly to play music for. I don't understand why all these people that liked iPods just fine are complaining about the video one. Does what it used to do better, plus 10 gigs of memory and video. [I enjoy my iPod quite a bit, some of the best money I've spent in a while]

Yeah, darkjello is right. the iPod will not play XviD, and the screen res of your file by far exceeds the maximum supported. Check the guide(s) for more information :-)
