Hi all, i hope some people may be able to bring my pc back to life! Basically over the weekend my pc started really going slow and the hard drive was always making noise!! Then when i was doing something i just got a blue screen saying something about some kernel failure or something and then it just switched off! I then booted it up in safe and carried out a virus scan using McAfee. My virus software is totally upto date by the way. So after doing the scan it picked up that i had Byte-verify.B, TOOL-EVID, and whenU something. So i clicked on delete these files and it failed to delete Byte-verify and TOOL-EVID. So i went to Mcafee to get removal instructions BUT guess what??!! There are NO removal instructions on McAfee!!! Hows that then for a company that claims to be the leaders in virus software!!!
Ok so i go to trusty ols norton response centre and get removal instructions for Byte-Verify.B. I think i may have removed it i'm not sure. Ok then i look for tool-evid but there's nothing on norton so i try google for answers and there seems to be no info on it nor a way to remove it!!
So i tell Mcafee to Quarrantine the files it can't delete. I then run another scan and it says that there are no virus on my pc. BUT then what happened to the TOOL-EVID?? one wonders!
Anyway never mind that i start browsing and notice that there are times that my pc just goes into freeze mode for a minute or 2 and then you can continue. It does like every 10 mins or so.
So i come to the forum to search for help and follow the instructions on how to start the cleaning process. I start by using cClean which does its thing. I then use an online virus checker using the McAfee and it says that i have 7 infections!!! ADWARE-URL.GEN this is found in 6 locations on c drive. The other detected item is ADWARE-PACIMEDIA. I then click on the ADWARE PACIMEDIA name to find out more about it and once again MCAFEE doesn't have any information AT ALL!!! It just says could not find any information!! I mean for pete's sake they software found it so how can they have no info on it!!! As for the Adware-Url.Gen it just says that update your .dat engine and thats it! No manual removal instructions! I seriously think that i will be returning this Mcafee and going back to norton even though norton is slow and uses tons of pc resources but at least you get the service!!
Ok so enough about that i have a hijack log that if members could examine and please give me a hand in restoring my pc to its glory!

I'm BACK!! ok so i did a google for trends micro, found it started the process but it kept getting stuck at the preparing machine! So i went for bitdefender online scan and it found something called TROJAN.CRYPT.J i tried searching on bitdefender site for a solution but found nothing! I tried good old google and didn't find anything supprisingly enough!! It said that this was located in
c/windows/downloadedinstallations/d83cd833-477b423d-8911-7f91b4600a5e/swf sound automation tool.msi=embedded cab=swfsoundautomate.exe
It listed this 4 times except on the 4th time the file name ended with tool.msi=embeddedcab.
So i dunno if this is serious or not as i can't find an answer on google!
Ok now for my latest hijack this:

@rav009
What was wrong with this?
O16 - DPF: {6414512B-B978-451D-A0D8-FCFDF33E833C} (WUWebControl Class) - http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/V5Controls/en/x86/cl...
That´s ActiveX object for Windows Update !!!!!!
And you removed a lot of other legitimate stuff also
Please don´t fix logs if you don´t even got a clue what to do. In worst case you´ll just make things even worse.
@hassibabe
Open HjT and remove that line from backups

When you next go on the update site, it'll say checking if you have the software to use the site then just install active x, 5 mins job i think, dont worry.
I thought it would be best to dump them for a while and then you can get them later, i have had one problem with this a while back.
I dont think removing theese could cause any harm at all...

Try running that to clear the temp files if they are freezing when your doing it the old fasioned way.

This is a quote from merjin.org
Quote: If the domain is not from your ISP or company network, have HijackThis fix it. The same goes for the 'SearchList' entries.
For the 'NameServer' (DNS servers) entries, Google for the IP or IPs and it will be easy to see if they are good or bad.
I can´t understand how it is so hard to understand it. Check them first!!! If you fix IP which is from your ISP you can lose your connection.
