Since raid 5 is really fast when reading (supposedly faster that striped) but subpar when writing, wouldn't the best setup have a raid 5 configuration for video storage and a separate drive for writing finished projects to? The only time that you will have to write is when you are done so having the best read times while editing should be the goal when setting up a system, right? It seems like such a simple and effective way to speed up the editing process. Is there any reason why this method isn't pushed very much?
