Vib Ribbon (PAL) not playing music on Easy

I burned a CD of Vib Ribbon (PAL). There's the data track, and 7 audio tracks (tracks 2-8). The audio tracks all play fine if I play it as an audio CD in the PS2. The PS2 is a v7 with a Matrix Infinity chip (1.75).

The game boots and runs, but if I select the Easy level using the game music, no music plays, which means you can't play the level (the ribbon just stays flat). I tried Normal level, and that plays music, but I'd like to have Easy working, too.

Any ideas what might be wrong?
