Got myself a VGS cable for my 360 (not an official MS one) everything seems to work ok but the graphics appear to be fuzzy or almost like i was looking through a soft filter.

is it possible this is bing caused by the cable, or maybe the monitor?

it looked much sharper on my 28" NON HD, CRT TV

Try a VDGI VGA Adapter, it connects to your 360's component cables and your monitor's vga cable, and even has an ouput to connect a computer and your 360 at the same time. I cots about the same than those crappy vga cables, but it's diferent. It even has a power cord, since it requires the power to convert the signal into HDTV and you can use it with any device that has component output like DVD's and other game consoles. Check it out.
