I am attempting to capture analog video from VHS using a Haupauge PVR 250 for a capture device. When opening NeroVision It states that I need to configure and test my capture device. I attempt to do this, and while I am configuring it for the test, I can see my video and hear the audio in the preview window. However when I start the test, NeroVision stops and I get the Windows "this program is not responding" message.

I attempted to capture the video without doing the test, but all of the buttons under the preview window are greyed out and unavailable. I can see and hear my video, but am not allowed to do anything with it.

I am running NeroVision 4 and have downloaded the most recent Nero 7.0.14.b update. Can anyone help me with this problem?

What on vhs are you trying to capture. If it is protected it can kick you off. I use a video stabilizer whether it is protected or not to ensure nice video feed.

I updated the driver today before I started directly from the Hauppauge website. The content was a home video - not copyright protected. I don't know if I am configuring it wrong or what, but Nero just shuts down when I try to test the capture. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?

Have you checked the FAQ's on Haupauge's Site ?

You could try another capture sotware Virtual vcr or vitual dub both only capture in AVI format though but it would tell if your capture device is working properly

if your tring to capture in mpeg does your computer have enough Ram CPU etc.

Same problem... Gave up, I assume the Haupauge is not supported (it is not on the list).

cecooper,

Doesn't support my Viewcast card either...shows up in the device list but that's it <shrug>. Given other issues with NVE, I think I'll stay with VirtualDub ;-)

I am a little upset that I threw down a a C-note for Nero and it won't even do what I would consider a fairly simple task. I tried to capture video with Window's Movie Maker and it wouldn't even recognize my capture card.

I did find a possible lead on the Nero problem. It may be a glitch in Windows that causes the software to 'hang' when video capture is attempted. It only affects computers with Dual core or Hyperthreading technology processors. I have an E-mail submitted to Microsoft requesting a Hotfix for this problem but have not yet heard back from them.
