that the Xbox360 and PS3 will have basically the same graphics, so that doesn't really matter anymore. I need help deciding which system to get. I need to know which system will have better FPS and RPG games. I want good controls in FPS games, and I want to go online with those game, but without charge. I want a system that won't have problems fitting one game into 1 single disc. I want a system with a lot of JAPANESE made titles, especially RPG games. I want a system that has A LOT, and i mean A LOOOOOOOOOOTTT of multiplayer games.
Which system would you recommend, and don't be bias. I am most concered about ONLINE PLAY, and I want it to be FREE, yes FREE, 100% FREE.

well xbox 360 live u already know costs and i seriously doubt that ps3 will be free since there has been speculation that they are goin to have an online similar to the 360s...so more than likely you will have to pay...and as for rpgs playstation has traditionally been the console with the most japanese rpg titles...

HipN, based on what you said i think its pretty obvious which system would potentially best fit you (ps3) but of course that is "potentially," i think if your still uncertain on what to get you really should just sit back and wait till all the cards are on the table (both systems out) i think then you may know exactly what you want. remeber you can always pre-order a system, get it and return it; granted you follow the stores return policy, so if your worried about ... well i need to know now so i can pre order...i'd say just do it because you can always take it back.

Hipn, I'm a die hard Playstion/Sony fan. I bought a XBOX360 for my kid and was going to buy the PS3. Well guess what? Sony better put up one hell of an effort for me to buy the Ps3. While other people are deciding which system to buy, I'm in hog heaven with the awesome graphics and playing games. If the PS3 has better graphics and is more powerful then maybe I'd consider but until then XBOX360. Look, I lost my house, car and job in Katrina and I learned the hell with waiting on something. Go out and buy the 360 and enjoy yourself because who the hell knows what will happen by the time the PS3 comes out!

Ok, I am kind of leaning towards a 360, but I got one question. Will the 360 have any problems fitting a game onto a disc?

Well, I thought I wouldn't come back to this section, but this seems to be a serious crowd when it comes to decision making.
After seeing some games from both consoles, I would say it's a very tough call.
There are some really killer-games that are coming out on 360 that PS3 might not have. Take 99-Nights for example. There are going to be a lot of RPG's from the guy who directed the original FF games, so you may be suprised as to which one will be better.
As for multi-player, I think PS3 may have the upper-hand this time around. With games that can support over 3000 people at a time (Warhawk will allow that), then that's pretty f*ckin' incredible IMHO.
Then there's the exclusives for each one that make it hard to choose from. Xbox didn't really have as many as PS2, but that could change a lot this time around. It'll be a close call in that department. PS3 already has MGS4, FFXII, AC4, and whole grab-bag of great games coming out, but 360's might overturn that.
As for disc-changes, you can't really compare changing discs from Final Fantasy to something like RE4 for Gamecube. FF discs usually take over 25+ hours to clear one disc, while RE4 took a little under 45mins if you're fast. And with some or most of the big FPS's that may be 2-discs, that's a little repetitive in that sense.
Who knows, your personal choices from the previous consoles may be totally differnt this time around. I'd say that both systems are on a pretty level plain right now, with 360 obviously a peg or 2 higher due to it's early release.
One system that I totally want to check out (and possibly get) is the Revolution. Sure, it still uses old technology, and the controller is a little akward looking, but it looks like a lot of fun. You don't have to have the biggest and best graphics and conformaty to win a war, Nintendo, if anything, is a prime example.

Its hard to tell now, but consider that the games at launch used only single layer DVD's. And even when developers star using dual layer DVD's they can increase capacity even more with the new compression tools. I personally don't believe the 360 will have multiple disc games anytime soon.
Also, Sony is known for wasting a lot of disc space on their games. Like God of War, that took around 8GB because of the making-off videos and xtras, but when you took all the bonus content out, the game with all its in-game movies took less than 4GB. Also, GT4 used a dual layer disc to fit around 4.9GB of content, when they could have decreased the quality of the FMV sequences just a little bit (it wouldn't make a difference) to fit it into a single layer disc.
The 360 could easily offer bonus content like making-off's and game trailers through XBOX Live, so they don't need disc space for that.

@Razengan
ps2 lauch titiles were not on dvd they were on cd-r games like ridge racer 5 on midnight club 1 to name a few are on format cd-r then they eventually move ferom cd-r to DVD-R ,but you cant hate the super extra store that Blu-ray offers its hot and if you can use the least compression the better...the more store could mean better looking games.

Mudearis, I'm not an XBOX fanboy, in fact I have never owned any XBOX. I own a PS2 at the moment. I was just answering a question. Is 25GB better than 9GB? Yes. Is 9GB enough for games at the time? I believe yes? Of course games will increase in size eventually, and then BD-Rom will seem way more useful. But for the moment DVD9 seems enough.

25GB is better than 9GB. But as games get more advanced it does not mean that the files have to get bigger as developers work out better ways of programming. This is proven by the fact that xbox games have had random sizes from start to finish but the quality of the games always went up(in general) anyone who has copied xbox games will confirm this. I think the only games that will have to go onto more than one disc will be massive RPGs, but I dont really mind changing discs after every 15 hours of gameplay.

here's my opinion:
better FPS: Xbox 360. It's a Western machine, and the Xbox fanbase is also primarily western. Even without halo, the 360 will still probably have more/better fps games.
better RPG: PS3. I don't think I need an explanation for this one.
online service: no one knows what sony's online service will be, but I wouldn't bet on it being free with all the so-called services it will provide.
Disc space: PS3.
Japanese Titles: PS3
p.s I know you were asking for unbiased opinions, but I think it's pretty clear that you strategically positioned the PS3 to win. (Which clearly it does for you.) Some of your preferences were actually too obvious. I.E "Free online service." Everyone knows Xbox live costs money. "A lot of JAPANESE made titles" Duh. Sony is japanese, is based in japan, and owns the japanese market. "Disc space" is one of the main points anti-xboxers make about the 360. You've been around the forums long enough to realize all of this, and I saw right through your little plan.
So, to answer your original question: I think the PS3 is the better choice for you.

I am not trying to get the PS3 to win or anything, I am jsut asking because teh 360 seems cheaper, but the PS3 is so hyped and stuff. When I said a lot of Japanese titles, I didn't mean MOST titles, I just mean, better or atleast a good amount of them. Online... I heard XboxLive Silver is free, and I also know that PS3 will probably not be free (online service), so I was asking, which one wis better when it comes to the free part of the online service. Disc space, jsut asking the one that has ENOUGH space (and sorry for not writing things clearly), I know PS3 will have 50GB, but will they be full? No. I was basically asking if the 360 will have any trouble fitting one game on one disc.
Obviously the 360 is more of a NORTH AMERICAN type of machine, so that is a good thing about it, and the oline part is probably the better than the PS3.
I am planning on getting a 360(Premium) in 2 or three months.
