for some reason after i click encode using ffmpegX it won't save the file , so i have no idea where the file is being saved if it is being saved at all, but is there any other program i can use to convert avi/divx to mpeg2 files or what not???

yes... audio to AC3..

drop the file into the video tab... toast 7 has a option for it under the video.

they do take a while to convert/encode
