I'm looking for a private network program that works better than waste. Waste works ok but it has its problems and I would like to try something different. Something where just me and my friends can privately hook up together and share but not through another server. I'd like to have something where i can encrypt the connection like waste allows me to. Can someone help please?

Hey Dawk; I've been looking for the same thing. Winmx and others are shut down. Limewire and others are under fire. I think personal/private P2P is the future. I also looked at waste, but it, at this stage of development, looks buggy to me. I've come accross two others so far that I might give a try, TrustyFiles and Grouper. Grouper doesn't allow MP3 transfer (allows streaming), but you can zip files to send. Google them & let me know how you make out.

yes, i've used grouper before and in my opinion it sucks. Its nothing compared to what i need. Waste is buggy..but you gotta get the right version too. There's a lot of different versions out there. I don't remember the version I was using otherwise i'd tell ya but you can try different ones. Anyway, the only problem i was having with it was firewall issues with some of my friends on the network so i'm looking for something that I can adjust some of these settings with. Anyway, it may work just fine for you. Give it a try. Have a good one.

hae you guys tried a program such as Hamachi? it basically is a very user friendly VLAN program.

You should use PeerGuardian 2. It blocks millions of IPs including anti-piracy groups such as the MPAA and the RIAA.

Also, if this is not enough for you, try out Filetopia, it is a fairly good "anonymous" file-sharing program.
