ALL:
Last week I attempted to back up my copy of the Brothers Grimm as described many places here on this site. Before I could continue I had to update my version of AnyDVD to the current version. After I installed the new AnyDVD my system continually rebooted. I had boot into safe mode and uninstall AnyDVD to allow windows to function. This lead me to try DVD43 as an alternative to AnyDVD. I ended up with the same rebooting problem. Finally I tried DVD Fab to decrypt the DVD, and DVD fab also rebooted my system.
I find it very odd that every DVD copying software I install on system causes my system to reboot.
I've run every anti-virus and spyware software I can find and I don't have a known virus or spyware.
I'm wondering if this could be some new sony DRM software. Anyone have any ideas for me.
I've been backing up DVD's for years without a problem till this one.
Thanks in advance,
Mickey

I'm not sure what to tell ya. The Brothers Grimm isn't a Sony release, it's a Disney release, so Sony has nothing to do with your problem.
Is your firmware up to date? How much RAM do you have? Are you multitasking while trying to rip the disc?

sounds like you have a windows problem...... I would check that out first. No DVD programing would make your computer reboot all the time! Has to be the operating system.....

Yeah, I was thinking it might be something like that too. Reinstalling an OS is a nightmare and I don't wish that on anyone. That means you have to reinstall everything unless you have it all backed up.

Yeah I agree it's got to be a windows problem. It's just very very odd that I can run and program I want with the exception of any DVD programs.
I'll let you know if I figure this one out.
By the way what software do you use to replicate your hard drive?

thegisguy,
I have been using Acronis Trueimage for years to backup to an image of my entire system, and on occasion I have had to restore an image back to my HDD, which has worked flawlessly.
HTH,
Rich
Edit: Ihoe, what do you use to backup your system, or do you just manually backup files and setting to your external?

System Rebooting I have the same problem as to do - system rebooting. 1: Installed 1Click DVD Pro. 2: Installed DVD43, uninstalled, installed over and over again. Tried many things to correct the problem.
I used my other software, DVD X Copy Platinum and have no problems.
We must have something in commen.
Next I will try to find firmware for my Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-820s 1.5 I been searching the net all day!
On monday Feb 27th, I will call 1Click DVD tech-support to see if they have heard of this rebooting issue.

I think you guys should start looking at software conflicts, Roxio, and Nero running on the system at the same time, in background. Also, if you have Nero's Incd running remove it.
@janiese,
Good luck on finding firmware for that burner, Matshita has amongst the worst support for their burners, best to get another drive.
Best of luck,
Rich

Welcome to the forum
I Found this info on another forum:
Win XP and Win 2000 have a default setting to restart at just about any error. It makes things difficult to analyze when it blows through and restarts the computer. Settings / Control Panel / System / Advanced / Startup and Recovery / Settings. Make sure the box is UNCHECKED where it says "Automatically Restart" under System Failure."
****************************
Now I want you to download a free registry cleaner and clean the registry as OS Conflicts can cause this. If it continues then try a system restore to a point that was prior to this behavior
