Well from what I have heard Sapphire is the worst GFX Card manufacturer... I wouldn't be surprised if you card warrants the price difference.

AMD Athlon 64 FX-55, MSI K8N Neo4-F Motherboard, Creative Labs T5400 5.1 Surround Sound Speaks, Pioneer DVR-109 16X DVD Burner, MSI GeForce 8800 GTS PCIe GFX Card, 1 GB Value Ram.

WHAT!?!? in the worst card manufacturers list, manufacturers like MSI would be on top. MSI is a good mobo manufacturer, but their video cards are below average. Sapphire...no no, Sapphire is a very good manufacturer, they manufacture LOTS of cards.

I reckon the difference is that the Sapphire card os an O.E.M (original equipment manufacturer) item and doesn't come in a fancy box with or a games pack & all you get is a card, driver & vga cable where as the Diamond card is a retail card so comes with a fancy box, extra software & a DVI-AGP adapter ...... same cards, different packaging, greatly affected price ......and for the guy with the Diamond card an extra $10 would have got you this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130220 which kills a 9600xt ... :)

the game was designed around an nvidia card unless you get a very new ati at the very new price i'd stick to nvidia anything better than a 5700 with 128 ram
bandwidth is more important than ram

Yes and in order to convince her to get you that Gig, don't call it Ram, but call it the game De-violencizer :)

Thanx 4 the info about sapphire compared to diamond. Not exactly what I wanted to hear. I guess I could have gotten a 6600gt but I already ordered 9600xt b4 I joined this discussion. That's the way it goes. Besides my kid thinks the fancy box is COOL. Thanx.

The extra Gig would come in handy for applications like photoshop,BF2, video editing, etc,etc.. that use up a lot of system resources, XP becomes a bit smoother as well .... use skidme's explaination on your mom lol :D
