I have no problem, admitting that I only do the movie, no extra's, not even the menu. I always select DVDXcopy Platinum's Simple mode. And not the entire disk, which is an option. And even with this mode the read/burn time can vary significantly dependant on the quality of the original period!

newfie,
Try running your drive select again. Open Platinum, click settings, highlight your burner and save.
How many burners do you have? (ie. a cd burner also?)

Tried selecting the drive and saving. I have just the one optical drive.
Tried writing another movie. About a normal write time, started finalizing and locked up. Had to reboot to get the disk out.

if you are trying to use dvdxcopy platinum version 4.0.3.8 , there is a well known problem with the patin couffin driver 1.19 , when using that driver many people have had read errors including myself , the fix for that is to replace your 1.19 patin couffin driver with 1.17 , c:\program files\321 studios\platinum is where you can locate the driver that needs to be replaced if you installed to the default , if you are having write errors , you could try different media , also do a search on this site on blacklisted software with platinum , also have you been doing clean installs of dvdxcopy ? you might want to try msconfig to shut down any programs that are not needed while you are doing a backup of a movie , this will help narrow down a software conflict , sorry i couldnt be more help

On the last burn PM cancelled xcopy but the disk kept spinning, so i had to reboot to get it out. I left it for a long time 10-15 minutes before rebooting.

I entered the last thread prematurely, something about may laptop keyboard, hope i don't make you guys mad by posting again.
See my last post and ....tried a burn, it seemed to go fine until the finalizing starded. It wouldn't stop finalizing (10-15 minutes), so I used PM to shut down the program. That worked but the drive kept spinning and wouldn't open. The burn failed.
In my last post i asked what is RF?

Using v.4.0.3.8 yes. Don't know where the first abbreviated post went. Anyway just said I did the aspi install (1.7) got 4 dll's with 4.6, then tried a burn. Which failed and then the drive that wouldn't stop, even after using PM.
So... what is RF any way...sounds like something to try and the patin couffin thing has been in my mind also as a possible culprit. How to address that?

RF mean ripper free, but with 321rip the ripper is enabled again. Also it's a newer version v4.0.4.15RF. Try it.

Hi I'm back. I took this laptop in for servicing and resolved the screen flicker. Have tried burning a few disks with xcopy platinum and all failed. One thing i have noticed is that the read speed is way to fast. This morning the read only took about ten minutes so i didn't even try burning. Since this problem cropped up i realize that the read speed has been too fast on all failed efforts. This one was the most striking. I did run the patch for xcopy rf a second time to make sure it was running could that cause any problems?
