Ok, I am trying to backup Final Fantasy X, which I own a copy, I believe I have all the right equipment. Here are my specs.

PS2: Slim Model, has Swap Magic 3.6 + Flip Top - so far no problem loading original games, so I must assume that this is working.

PC: Have a custom-built PC, with 1.5GHZ, 1GH RAM, Sony DRX-810UL external DVD RW (can burn both DVD-RW and DVD+RW.

Software: Using DVD Decrypter, already read tons of guides posted on the forum

Media: Purchased TDK DVD-R disk can be burned at X16.

I already tried 6 times, and my PS2 does not recognize the disk as a PS2 disks when I am loading it after Swap Magic Discs. Tried various speeds, even tried X1 burn. No Result. Can Someone give me step-by-step guides? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

when you say fliptop, did you buy the special fliptop with your swap magic discs? If you did, are you hitting the eject button or lifting up the circular fliptop when you put in your burnt disc?

It could be a number of things. The game may need a rebuild, however I don't think that FF:X does. Are you using Nero or anything besides DVD Decrypter to burn the games? If so, burn the disc without multisession, or alternatively, burn the "*.iso" with DVD Decrypter at 4X (usual recommended speed).

1. When I said Fliptop, I meant Flip Top Set NTSC (USA/CANADA)from Modchip.com. I am lifting up the circular fliptop when I put in burnt disc.

2. I am only using DVD Decrypter. But I just bought Sony 8X disc - I read that 16X disc might give me some problem.

Just failed another session burning FF 10 with Sony 8X DVD-R. Another question. When the DVD Decrypter rips the DVD initially, it has 2 files - .ISO and .MDS file. Am I supposed to include both files in the DVD-R when I burn it?

Is your firmware up to date? Is your burner in DMA mode? If the answer to both of those is yes, then try rebuilding the game.

92. Q. What is firmware and why should I care?
A. Firmware as defined by AD:
Sort of a "operating system of the hardware", an embedded instruction set built-in or flashed into a hardware equipment, such as a router, CDR drive, DVD-ROM drive, washing machine, etc.
Newer Firmware can unlock new features that are sealed on certain DVD Burners like booktyping, or simply enhance your existing Burner by improving burn quality and media compatiblility. Keeping your Firmware up to date is essential to ensure quality burns and maximum functionality from your DVD Burner. When flashing your burner with new Firmware, be very careful. Make sure you shut down all programs running in the background, the DVD-ROM drive is empty, and you follow all the directions included in the Firmware download exactly. A bad flash can fry your DVD Burner. Proceed with caution. You can find all the Firmware you'll ever need here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

82. Q. When I'm burning with DVD Decrypter or Nero I get an I/O error or some other strange error, I'm not sure my burner is in DMA mode, and I'm confused about different media, what do I do?
A. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

10. Q. What does rebuilding an iso mean?
A. It means that some games 4.36-4.38GB's may need rebuilt to work with Swap Magic. This isn't true for ALL games over 4.38GB's and differs on a game to game basis. There is no need to rebuild games if you have a modchip. Another purpose of rebuilding is to make games run smoother. Usually the size of the game after rebuilding is smaller, but not always. If you're a Swap Magic user, make sure to look out for dummy files when rebuilding. If you are having trouble getting a backup to boot, and you're sure the media isn't the problem, try rebuilding the game.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

Hey Phxomega, are you using Nero or something to burn a disc with the .iso file or/and the .mds file on it? All you do is open the mds file, which should open up DVD Decrypter, then you configure all the options and let DVD Decrypter burn the disc for you.
