I'm going to install Ubuntu on my PC and give MythTV a try. I'll also be installing a 250gb drive so I have some more space for my media library. I figure the best way to keep from messing up my windows install is to put linux on the new drive and make that my primary one. I'll be keeping windows installed for the occaisonal need for it, but will be using partition magic to repartition the 120gb drive it's on.

I'm looking for suggestions on what kind of partitioning scheme I should use. Obviously, I'll have 1 for the linux install, 1 for the swap. That still leaves a lot of space on both drives for all my media stuff. Also, is cygwin able to access non FAT/NTFS file systems in the event that I want to access my media from windows?

The Cygwin on MS Windows wont be able to access the non-windows partition.

You may want to consider the following for the 200Gb disk

root (/)
SWAP
/home
/media/share (VFAT)
/var/log

The manual said I needed Win98 or greater - So I upgraded to Linux.
