Burner doesnt seem to like your media, I cannot find any difference with this log compared to last log, I will ask Creaky to take a look.

Hi Gwendolin
Thanks for the reply.
Im convinced tho that the memory issue is because i have 3 gig yet Nero for some reason only says ive 2 gig..hence in theory according to 'it' my memory wont go down until its using more than 1 gig (which is unlikely if i dont multi-task).My system recognises 3 gig.
I thought cds would be ok burnt at 8x?
Im using verbatim cds.
Did a clean install and went back to 6 6 0 18 and my external plextor is working again.Copied a cd with my Lite-on......disc burns/reads/plays and is a succesful burn yet i still get this in the History file:
13:35:25 #14 SCSI -1189 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1182
SCSI Exec, HA 0, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x03BF6400

HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)
TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST)
Must be a bug?

hi, i haven't yet installed the latest update, and this is the 2nd or 3rd thread i've seen for 6.6.1.4 so i think i'll hang off updating, i certainly don't need anything fixing in Nero myself..

..anyway, initially your log did indeed look like it doesn't like those Verb cd's. i'd personally stick with 6.6.0.18 and see if your problems stay away, let other ppl be the guinea pigs for this update :)

i'm not as active in the Nero forum these days so am unsure how the 6.6.1.4 update is really doing but if you're happy with 6.6.0.18 i'd stay with it (i am!). i still haven't seen a changelog for 6.6.1.4 anyway so dunno what fixes it's supposed to have...

Hi Creaky
Personally i prefer 6 6 0 16 but it only recognises my Lite On 16H5S as a MMC recorder.Still burnt good tho.Might even go back to that yet.Im a little confused as to wether to get rid of the system aspi and just burn with the Nero aspi or keep both on.What do you reckon?

@Johnytuon -

your burner is only generically detected then with that MMC output, i'll paste an example here -
Quote:
Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI
Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 11
Drive is autodetected - recorder class: DVD+R9 DL recorder
- i'd update to 6.6.0.18, hopefully that'll cater for your burner.

as to the ASPI stuff, i don't comment on that stuff anymore, i have both installed and it all just works, i honestly get bored reading the differences between different ASPI layers so have still never figured out what these thing do!, they're top of my "if it's not broke, don't fix it" list :)

If i am reading this correctly from the nero error code, this is what is being reported as that error:
Logical unit does not respond to selection
You can try to figure out nero error codes by looking at this chart, but im warning you, its not easy to figure out..

and response to that type of error:

2. Drive Connection
Other devices may be interfering with the CD-R/RW drive. Disconnect all other removable devices, then try recording again. If there is still a problem, try the following.

Optimal Hardware Configuration

All hard drives are placed on the Primary IDE, check that the drives are correctly set as master/slave. CD-ROM/CD-R/RW drives are placed on the Secondary IDE, set the recording drive as the "master". If you are using a USB or IEEE devices, disconnect them.

Update your chipset

Windows 95/98/ME Users
Right click on [My Computer] and select [Properties] from the menu. Click on [Device Manager], then click to open [Hard Disk Controllers]. You will find: the Primary IDE Channel controller, the Secondary IDE Channel controller and a brand name controller, e.g. Intel, SIS, VIA, etc. The brand name controller is what needs to be updated. Please visit their website to obtain these updates.

Windows NT/2000/XP Users
Right click on [My Computer] and select [Properties] from the menu. Click [Device Manager] on the [Hardware] tab, then click to open the [IDE ATA/ATAPI (hard disk) controllers] section. You will find: the Primary IDE Channel controller, Secondary IDE Channel controller, and a brand name controller, e.g. Intel, SIS, VIA, etc. The brand name controller is what needs to be updated. Please visit their website to obtain these updates.

Configure Windows
Make sure that your operating system has been fully updated. Visit the Microsoft website to acquire these updates.

thats one, wait there is more coming..

5. Disc

Recording errors often occur when the disc is dirty, or has fingerprints or scratches. If an error occurred during test simulation (before actual recording), clean the disc. If you are getting recording errors, try the following.
Use a different blank, recordable disc.
Use a different manufacturer's disc.
Ensure the disc is clean before recording:
Remove all fingerprints, dirt, and dust from the shiny side of your disc using a nonabrasive cloth with a mild, nonabrasive soap solution.
Wipe the disc from the center to the edge of the disc.
Dry the disc completely.

Error during file verification
If an error occurred when the files were being verified, record the same files again using a different disc.

Read error when copying a disc
When copying a disc, if an error occurred while reading data from the original disc, the original disc may be scratched or dirty.
Try cleaning the disc.
Remove all fingerprints, dirt, and dust from the shiny side of your disc using a nonabrasive cloth with a mild, nonabrasive soap solution.
Wipe the disc from the center to the edge of the disc.
Dry the disc completely.
Try using a different source drive.
To change the drive you use to read your disc, click the Change button when asked to insert a source disc into your drive tray.
Select the drive you wish to use from the drop-down menu.
Insert your disc into the new drive.
Try using copying the disc using one drive as both the source and destination drive.
When you use your recorder to both read and write to your disc, B's Recorder GOLD creates an image file of the entire disc to your hard drive and then copies that temporary file onto your blank disc. This can be helpful if the drive you are using to read your original disc is slow or unreliable.

If the problem persists, contact the drive maker.
and one more

6. Drive
If you have tried Actions 1 through 5 above, there may be a problem with your drive. Contact the drive maker with details of the error code. If the 5th and 6th digit of the error code is 80 through FF, then the error code is maker unique. The descriptions of these error codes differ depending on the maker.
hope that helps..
