Are you trying to copy a dvd already on your hard drive or straight from your the disc? Has recode every worked for you or is this the first time trying it?
Editted to add: Which version of nero are you using?

I had the same problem when i upgraded to the newest Nero version. The first three option recode entire dvd, main movie, remake dvd wouldn't respond when i click on them. But the last two did. I tried it from the startsmart menu too and all it did was minimize for one second and then came back.
I tried everything from uninstalling and using cleaning tool and even deleted all registry but it didn't work so i just downgraded back to their previous version.

Ah so you had 7.0.5.4 and went back to 7.0.1.4? It seems that there is an issue with recode and the latest version (another member pointed it out). All working now?

Hello everyone. I seem to be experiencing the same problems as most of you are. I am a newbie at using this Nero Recode program. I've just installed it and all seems to work fine except this Recode program. None of the options work except for "Recode DVDs and Videos to Nero Digtial". I am running Nero 7.5.4 under Win XP SP2. Is there anyone that can help me work around this problem? I've tried searching for Ver. 7.0.1.4b with no luck. Thanks in advace.

Nero not responding? Been there, seen it. The latest version of AnyDVD might take care of it. If not, use CloneDVD 2 and see if you can make a back-up. It seems to be related to encryption. When I saw this, it was on Sony/Columbia Movies, and Nero would not respond. I got out of Nero. Used CloneDVD 2 and successfully backed up the same movie. Without any issues. Later, AnyDVD came out with an update & Nero did the same movie ok.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Thank you all for the advise, sorry I did not respond sooner but I have been busy doing Computer Maintenance. Now to answer the Questions others asked me. To answer blinkie 7 Question Yes the movie to backup is on the Hard disk and snezzle I will try your Suggestion of going back to the previous Version of Nero, but I will not be able to respond back to let other no if it worked for awhile because it was on a family members Computer that I was having this problem and I will not be going back overe there for a while. I have the same problem with Recode too.
In another thread some have said it is because a pirate key was used. My serial number is bought and paid for, and I never posted my log with it. Seems if it were a serial problem, the whole program would not work, and everything else appears to be operating ok.

@dvdnoobie
Which Nero version are you using? If 7.5.0.4 go back to 7.0.1.4b. See
cyprusrom post above for a link. This should solve it.
If not that - than what a you trying to do in recode? It will freeze up on certain movies as bunnyrip pointed out.
