I have this really crappy movie called "The Horrible Dr. Bones" and its from 2001.

The first problem is The original DVD doesnt seem to play properly on a PC. I have tried 4 PC's and 3 different DVD-RW drives (Pioneer/Plextor/NEC)

When attempting to play the DVD in Nero Showtime or WinDVD, the menu displays, however after pressing play on the main title, the video dissapears, the sound jumps as if its in fast worward mode and the time code advances at 2-4 times the speed. When I pause the movie, I see an image of the current frame.

Funny thing is, the DVD plays fine on my standalone DVD players (I have 2)

I have tried all the tools at my disposal (AnyDVD, DVDFab, DVDFab Express, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, VOB Blanker.

I have tried to rip the movie in its entierty and as just the main movie title alone. Neither has worked.

The result in all my trials have been that there is sound but no video.

I'm beginning to suspect that the original DVD may have been authored improperly (?) as the production quality of the title is extremely poor. DVD Decryper fails on CSS Cracking of main title however is able to crack the rest of the disc (menu and such)

Does anyone have any suggestions? I doubt its copy protection becuase the publisher of the DVD is low budget and they wouldnt be able to afford it :-) Besides I dont think copy protection was avaiable in 2001.

Please help!! Any (sound) advice is much appreciated

Look at the bottom of the disc and see if there are any scratches, smudges, etc. Sounds like it could be a scratched/bad disc.

I'm at a loss then. The only time I've ever had a similiar issue as yours is when the dvd had a scratch at a certain part. I would then get similiar results from Decryptor. It's also not common for the movie to play in your standalones and not your pc. Usually it's the other way around. You may try it with Nero Recode and post the error log. That could maybe give more info on the problem.
