Hi everyone,
Does anyone know anything about Windows Vista? What do you think of Microsoft making Halo 2 (For the PC) only on Windows Vista?

Windows Vista is NOT coming within 1 square mile of my PC as they are planning on making it so you CANNOT play/copy anything you d/l without paying for it!
Which really sucks!

WOW....thanks for the info...if they do not allow illegal things on there OS, I do not think this OS will be successful, at all... I think that making the OS not able to run downloaded applications would make Microsoft lose more money, than they do because of piracy.
I do doubt though that they will completely be able to block piracy because if you take a look at the Sony PSP, Microsoft releases new firmware all the time that attempts to stop the playing of illegal games, and a little time later, there is a crack or a way to downgrade firmwares.
Any other input on Microsoft's new OS

VISTA = SHIZEN
thats right vista sucks, im stickin with XP theres nothing wrong with it. seems like a bad idea for microsoft to replace it because windows XP works great and can run well on lower spec computers ... as for vista you near enough need a super computer just to install it...
thank microsux for pushing up the price of modern computing with Vista

My POV is that if you can't burn/play movies, can't burn/play music, can't burn games then there aint much point in owning a computer in the first place. :)

linux is like Mac in the respect that many programs don't work on it. however, there are many that do, and many major programs also have linux versions. you won't be able to run any of your windows games unless you run emulation software; if you want to continue to game, your best bet is probably to build a windows gaming rig, then a daily-use linux machine. with linux, there's not near the amount of disc-copying programs, games, or drivers; however, it is a rock-solid and stable OS for word-processing, internet usage, downloading, etc..
..i don't even think there's a Nero for linux..or i could be wrong.

Hypothetical: Lets say that I wanted to get Vista but only put it on a separate HD partition. When running XP, DRM shouldnt be a problem, should it?

Strange, I would think that blocking such things considered illegal would be a bad move for MS and therefor I doubt will actually happen. Specially when they are talking a lot about the peer-to-peer feature. I think you are exagerating too much. People will always find ways to copy music, movies, games and software. Hello people, Windows Vista is software and software is always crackable. Besides, like I said, it's not in MS best interest to block everything, just some things.
And I don't know what's this whole thing about Vista needs better hardware so I don't want it when everyone is always wanted better hardware in the first place. I for one want a PC much better than the minimum requirements for Vista. You all need to stop thinking like cheapskates. You all know you want the latest Intel 3.+ Pentium 4 or dual processors, the AMD 64 FX or dual core, a mobo with PCI-e, creative X-FI, the latest nVidia and ATI graphic cards, etc. No one can deny wanting to have this and more, not wanting to spend money on it cause you can't afford it is another story. I for one will build my monster machine before the year ends and Vista could work flawlessly on it.
quikamber, I suggest you do a little bit of research on Vista outside of what people have to say here before deciding if you like it or not, keep in mind Vista is only in bate now and there is enough time for things to change from here to the end of the year when it's released. I don't understand why someone wants to go to Linux simply because MS is making Vista, as if XP will all of a sudden be illegal or something.
What comes around goes around.

I would imagine that Vistas selling point will be the integrated support for 64 bit drivers.
Anyone who currently uses XP 64 knows what a pain driver sourcing is, and its not gonna get any better because its not seen as a main stream operating system.
Vista hopefully will be seen as main stream and drivers made available by all the manufacturers.
Eventually people will be left with the choice of what they want to run and when certain apps and games will only run on Vista, you have to make a choice on taking the plunge.
Chances are, the media player in Vista will have limitations on what it can play, but third party apps will play anything you stick in the machine, and then such apps as AnyDVD etc... Will fool the operating system into thinking that the disk has or does not have the correct signatures on it.
There were plenty of people who thought XP was waste of time, now if I'm ever forced to reload 98 for someone, it makes me cringe its slow painful.
It definitely won?t be worth changing too soon, as its best to let the first patch come out.
Loading Vista should be easier, as they are apparently planning on making the data input all one part at the beginning rather than periodically requesting input from the user.
As for system spec, the operating system alone will need 800MB of ram to run correctly, so you really looking at 2GB minimum

yes, but i believe with all my heart that i'll see her again one day. i firmly believe she's still here, as i swear i've heard her. doors have been popping open (something she loves to do) and her food dish has been banged around when the room was empty. i don't believe she's upset with us, but i do think she's letting us know she's still guarding the house :D
not a day goes by that i'm not grateful for god creating such good friends as sweet, loyal dogs.
